GIVING AT PNA

Your gift, big or small, will assist the school in the following areas:

  • Provide significant funds to address our most critical day-to-day operation needs;

  • Curriculum and classroom supplies;

  • Specialized early childhood classroom support;

  • Provide financial resources for Music, Drama and Art programs.

You can give to honor the education you received, or your child or grandchild is receiving; you can give to make sure today’s students have the education they need to succeed, or to provide for a young person who could not otherwise afford PNA; you can give in honor of a faculty member or favorite program—there are as many possibilities as there are people who love PNA.

Gifts of Cash

Most gifts come in the form of cash, either by check or credit card. To make a cash gift, please make your check payable to Pacific Northern Academy, enclose a note or indicate on the check memo line the designation and mail it to the following address:

2511 Sentry Drive, Suite 100, Anchorage, Alaska 99507

Annual Fund Giving

Education is a labor intensive industry with having the best student-to-teacher ratios. There are significant costs associated with having our incredible educators guide our students through becoming who they are. Tuition only covers 65% of the actual cost, we rely on the support of our community and business sponsors to fund the Gap through giving to the Annual Fund.

Quality is an investment and it creates a lasting foundation, it costs money to provide our top-notch curriculum, programs, and experiences. PNA continues to offer its project based learning programs combined with the arts and sciences to allow for a students mind to grow. We rely on our alumni, parents and friends to help offset the costs associate with the high-quality education PNA delivers.

Consecutive Giving

PNA recognizes the loyalty of donors contributing year after year by honoring them at the end of every fiscal year. Beginning with two years of consecutive giving, donors are inducted into the Panther loyalty society. The size of the gift is not considered, only the frequency of giving. At the end of each fiscal year, consecutive giving is updated and the following milestones are honored:

Hunter (Five years of consecutive giving including last fiscal year)

Foraker (Ten years of consecutive giving including last fiscal year)

Denali (Twenty years of consecutive giving including last fiscal year)

Recurring Gifts

Recurring gifts are a very convenient way to donate to PNA. This allows you to transfer a specified amount to the school on regular intervals.

Your recurring gift benefits PNA two ways: you do not have to remember to make the gift during each of your preferred donation periods, and the school is able to plan more accurately for potential uses of your gift.

If you would like to set up a recurring gift to the school, please notify Peter Kling pkling@pacificnorthern.org

Matching Gifts

Many companies will match gifts that their employees (and sometimes spouses of employees) made to Independent Schools like PNA. Feel free to contact PNA if you have questions.

Please send your company’s matching gift form along with your gift to PNA to the attention of: Peter Kling.

Gifts from IRAs

If you are over age 70 ½, contact your IRA administrator for instructions on making a direct transfer that will be free of federal income tax.

If you are between ages 59 ½ and 70, you may be eligible to make a penalty-free withdrawal from your IRA. This withdrawal will be subject to federal income tax, and possibly state income tax; however you may be eligible for a charitable deduction to offset the taxes. Check with your IRA administrator or financial advisor.

Gifts of Stock

Making a gift of stock allows you, the donor, to take the full market value of the securities as a charitable deduction. You are likely NOT liable for the capital gains tax, nor is PNA, as PNA is a non-profit and does not pay capital gains tax.  When making a gift of securities to PNA, make sure you give the stock, NOT the proceeds from the sale. In most circumstances, your broker can facilitate the gift, and transfer it electronically using the information below.

IMPORTANT: If you plan to make a gift of stock to Pacific Northern Academy, it is critical that you notify us first of your intention. Be sure to include date of gift, name of stock, and number of shares.

If you have questions or don’t see the best option for you, we are here to help!

We are indebted to those who have been part of our growth since the beginning, and we continue to expand the number of donors and advocates for independent education in Alaska. Nevertheless, we still need your help in a number of areas. In supporting the school, donors like you make a tangible expression of dedication to PNA’s students and mission.
